Nakakatuwa at Nakakamangha

Sophomore Syndrome

I’m officially a college sophomore. My freshman year in La Salle seems only like yesterday. The pace of life in school is really fast because of the school system, which is trimester. Ang bilis talaga. The first day of my sophomore year is fine. There are a lot of new faces around the campus. It is easy to distinguish freshmen because they still depend on their EAF for their schedule. In addition to that, their EAF serves as their temporary ID. I’ve also seen some people I know. What’s more fun is that I can spend a lot of time with my college friends again and with my other block mates as well. (I love Block 1 L81!) By the way, the freshmen make me feel old. Hahaha. Of course, I’m only kidding. =)

On the other hand, I feel quite sad because school works are just around the corner. Sooner or later, our professors will give us tasks that we need to accomplish by the end of the first trimester. And the sophomore year looks like more complicated, academically speaking, based on the syllabus of the different subjects we’re taking up this first trimester. Our professors give the impression of expecting a lot from us too. Oh well, it is indeed good bye to summer vacation and hello to stress!

On the drama queen side, the first week of school makes me feel homesick all over again. I don’t know why I’m still not getting used to living far away from home, though I enjoy the company of my dorm mates/ room mates. This may sound like a cliché, but I think this old saying is definitely true: there’s no place like home. =)

One Special Night

Last night, my friend, Mye, celebrated her 18th birthday at Century Park Hotel. It was a night of fun and laughter. I felt so happy because I was able to be with her on the very special day of her life. This is truly a memorable one. =)

Happy Shalalala...

Tomorrow!!! Tomorrow!!! Tomorrow!!! I'm going to a debut party tomorrow!!! =) Okay, you might find it weird but honestly, I've never been to a debut party of a friend. I turned down the previous invitations of some friends slash classmates for some reasons. I explained to them why I couldn't go to their party. Their understanding made me feel very glad and thankful. However this time, it's quite different. For the very first time, my parents and auntie are allowing me to attend Mye's party. I'm so happy and excited!!! =) Yay!!! =)

On the geek side, I finished reading the book, Penny from Heaven by Jennifer L. Holm. It may be a simple children's (or teens') book but hey, I learned a lot from it. Even the adults can learn from it too. I won't tell you exactly what the story is about but I promise you, this is definitely a good read. =)

By the way, congratulations to David Cook, the seventh American Idol. David Archuleta, it's okay. I still like you. Haha. =) Good night everyone and thank you for reading!!! =)

Counting Down the Days

After one week and six days, I finished reading Queen of the Universe by Barbara Plum. Unlike the first two books that I finished for only two to three days, this book took a very long time for me to finish because it made me feel sleepy. Oh well, at least, I'm done with it.

I'm looking forward to reading two more books, Penny from Heaven by Jennifer L. Holm and Eggs by Jerry Spinelli (I think these books are for ages 9-12. Haha!). I hope I could finish the both of them by Sunday. I still have a couple of things to prepare for school because on Monday next week, my life will come back to normal...again. I have to say good bye to my beloved summer. I think I should obey Auntie Lucy's advice too--- sleep early and change my beyond the normal sleeping patterns. =)

Right now, I'm just counting down the days. In five days, I would be a college sophomore. Booyah! =)

I Heart You

How do you feel whenever you see the person you admire the most? What do you do when he or she smiles at you? Do you stumble or smile back? Have you ever looked directly at his or her eyes when you talk to him or her? Have you ever wished your conversation with him or her would last forever?

I realized something.

Like what Ayeen said in her blog, it doesn't matter if the person you admire is good looking or not. As long as he or she has a lot of sensible things to say, hence interesting, he or she may win someone's heart. And if you both have a lot of things to talk about, you'd discover yourself wanting to spend some more time with him or her. Talking is also one way to get to know more about each other.

I agree with Ayeen. Words may be so powerful that they have the possibility to hurt someone else's feelings and can destroy a person, but they can also make people fall in love too (or like each other). Lastly, when you talk, be yourself. Be confident. They are a "plus-factor". So there. Have a nice day everyone! =)

Simple, Weird, and Funny

Five months from now, I'm turning 18! The people who know my birthday always ask me where I would celebrate this extra special day. Actually, I don't like the idea of celebrating my 18th birthday the traditional way. I don't need gowns and extravagant attire just to celebrate it. As long as I'm with my family, friends, loved ones, and special people, even if it's only a simple salo-salo in a restaurant or at home, it's okay. Actually, I'm willing to stand up all day and wait for my turn in the US Embassy just to have a visa because I want to fulfill my dream of travelling around the world. However, unlike the others who ask for cars, I want to have an iPod video so I could transfer all the songs I downloaded in my laptop. Yes, you read it right. An iPod video. I have a feeling that my beloved laptop might explode one day because I downloaded a lot of songs. I desperately need an iPod video. Haha. Weird huh? Haha.

On the funny side, if I were to have a party, I would really appreciate if Spongecola (my favorite OPM band), Enchong Dee (my schoolmate and my ultimate crush), and Mikee Lee (the person I admire because of his intelligence and great writing skills) are there. Haha. Although Auntie Lucy says it is impossible, I won't stop daydreaming about it. But, if ever it happens, I would be the happiest birthday girl in the whole wide world! =)

Don't be Mean

Ironically, I'm writing this entry in English.

I'm not really that patriotic but whenever I read something bad about us Filipinos, it pains me. I feel offended because I'm a Filipino and I live in the Philippines. How come some foreigners say that we make them puke because of the way we practice our culture? In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with our culture. Honestly, I find our culture very interesting because of the influences of the different countries that colonized us before. At least, in our culture, we know how to respect and give importance to our elders--- that we value our family. In reality, the Philippines belongs to a third world country. I'm aware that a lot of us live in poverty. There are even some of us who leave the country and their family to work abroad so that they could feed and support them. It is sad but definitely it is true. However, I totally disagree in the belief that "nothing good has ever come from Philippines". The Philippines is a beautiful country, and it has a lot of wonderful places to be seen. The Filipinos are good and smart people. In fact, some of the foreigners who have visited our country admire our hospitality towards them. And because of our hospitality, they keep coming back and they learn to love our country as well. The Philippines may be a third world country right now but I believe it will become a very prosperous country, economically speaking, like America, China, and Japan. I don't know when, but I strongly feel that it will happen someday.

*Good night everyone and thank you for reading! =)*

May karamay tayo.

May pangarap akong maging isang manunulat. Oo, totoo 'yan.

The Night Owl

There's something I want to tell you right now. Sit back, relax, and read all the blah-blah I'm going to tell you tonight. Just promise me you won't get pissed off after reading it, okie?

I'm the only person awake in this house.
I can't sleep. Boo.

Everybody is fast asleep, including Blossom, our dog. The house is quiet. Even our neighborhood is doing a great job in keeping the area at peace. Only a dog's bark from the other street neigbor's house is being heard at the moment...then suddenly it stopped. Perhaps the dog got tired of barking and fell asleep as well. I don't want to look outside the garden because it is too dark and scary, though I'm tempted to look at the sky to see if there are stars. Oh well, I think I've had enough sleep today. I guess lying on the bed and staring blankly at the ceiling while listening to the songs will help me fall asleep. Good luck to me.

This is all.

See.

It's not really interesting AND important.

Anyway, thank you for reading!

I hope you kept your promise. =)

If We Were a Movie

I visited my Tagged account because I haven't opened it for ages. I don't open it as often as my friendster and multiply accounts. Anyway, while browsing through my home, I saw a video of the acoustic version of If We Were a Movie, which was downloaded by one of my contacts. Because of this video, I want to learn how to play the guitar so I could play this song and sing it myself. Haha. =)

If we were a movie
You'd be the right guy
And I'd be the bestfriend
That you'd fall in love with in the end
We'd be laughing
Watching the sunset
Fade to black
Show the names
Play that happy song...

I'm not really a fan of Hannah Montana or Miley Cyrus. I just love this song. Sweet! Happy-happy!=)

Hello Again!

I'm back people! After for two weeks of not being around in the cyberworld, I had done stuff which I planned to do before my freshman year in La Salle ended. I went to the mountains to be a monk. I meditated and reflected a lot to have a peace of mind and to find myself as well, although I didn't shave my head. People, of course, I'm only kidding. The real reason was that our Internet connection gave way or rather, gave up. Well, I only stayed up in my room and isolated myself from the real world. Nothing really exciting happened. I created a world of my own. I went to National Bookstore and I bought five books (novels). I read until the wee hours of the morning. Honestly, I felt like a nerd or a geek without a pair of eye glasses and braces. However, I realized that reading was also good because it enhances and widens our vocabulary. Sometimes, I played badminton outside our house to breathe a fresher air and to burn carbs too. Haha.

Oh well, I had fun last week! Auntie Sari had her birthday party at Crustacia's in Powerplant (2nd Level) and we had a very sumptuous dinner. We ate crabs and a lot of seafood. The food was really yummy. We shall eat there again! Haha. On the other hand, I had an out-of-the-province trip with my two friends, Maggie and James. I enjoyed being with them for one whole day. Thank you very much, Maggie and James, for making my day happy and extra special! =)

I would like to share with you some of the pictures Maggie, James, and I took last Friday. Good times. =)

By the way, Happy Mother's Day to your moms! Ciao! =)
